1.0 INTRODUCTION
Conestoga-Rovers & Associates (CRA) prepared this report on behalf of Equilon
Enterprises LLC dba Shell Oil Products US (Shell) in response to a November 5,2010
letter from the Central Valley Regional Water Quality Control Board (RWQCB)
requesting that a no further action request be submitted for the Former Shell Central
Valley Pipelines, Neighborhoods B,C, and D (site) (Appendix A).
The site is located on the northwest corner (Neighborhoods C and D) and the southwest
corner (Neighborhood B) of the intersection of Mountain House Parkway and Grant
Line Road, in Mountain House, northwest of Tracy, California (Figures 1 and 2). Shell
formerly operated two 8-inch diameter, crude oil transport pipelines which trended
generally northwest to southeast across the site. The site lies within Neighborhoods B,C
and D of the proposed Mountain House Development. A portion of the site in
Neighborhood B has been used as a dairy. Residential development is proposed in
Neighborhoods C and D and the western portion Neighborhood B, and industrial and
commercial development is planned for the eastern portion of Neighborhood B.
A summary of previous work performed at the site and additional background
information is contained in Appendix B.
2.0 CLOSURE SUMMARY
2.1 GEOLOGIC AND HYDROGEOLOGIC SETTING
2.1.1 GEOGRAPHY
The site is located approximately 4 miles northwest of the City of Tracy at an elevation
of approximately 100 feet above mean sea level. Topography at the site is relatively flat
(Figure 1). The nearest surface water body to the site is Delta-Mendota Canal, located
approximately 1 mile to the southwest.
2.1.2 SOIL TYPES
Soil types encountered during drilling activities consist primarily of silts and sands, with
some gravel, to the total depth explored of approximately 40 feet below grade (fbg).
Available boring logs and well construction diagrams are included in Appendix C.
060222(11) 1 CiONESTOGA-ROVERS&ASSOCIATES
