a
 I
August 28, 1997
Mr. Michael Carr
Loan Officer
Heller First Capital Corporation
650 University Avenue, Suite 101
Sacramento, California 95825-6726
Subject: Results of Additional Soil Sampling Activities at Friendly Chevrolet
I' Located at 2996 South McHenry Avenue, Escalon, California.
ii Versar Project No. 3375-054
I Dear Mr. Carr:
i
Versar; Inc. (Versar) is pleased to present this letter report summarizing the additional
soil sampling activities conducted at the Friendly Chevrolet property located at 2996 South
McHenry Avenue, Escalon, California(Site). The purpose of the additional soil sampling was to
define the vertical extent of contamination in the soil underneath five hydraulic lifts.
I
BACKGROUND
r Versar reported in its Phase I Environmental Site Assessment(ESA), dated May 30,
'f 1997,that five below-ground hydraulic lifts were observed inside the Service Center building.
On June 12, 1997, Versar conducted a limited subsurface investigation to determine if there had
been releases from the lifts, and if discovered, whether the releases contained polychlorinated
biphenyls (PCBs). Soil analytical results from samples collected on June 12, 1997, indicated that
the soil beneath the hydraulic lifts is impacted with low concentrations of total petroleum
hydrocarbons as hydraulic oil (TPH-HO).
i
f
SCOPE OF WORK
Based on Versar's June 12,1997 findings, Heller First Capital Corporation(Heller)
requested additional work be performed to assess the extent of TPH-HO in the subsurface. The
! scope of work for the additional sampling included the following:
• Interviews with individuals familiar with the hydraulic lifts at the Site and review
San Joaquin County Building and Planning Department records for information
on the type of hydraulic lifts installed at the Site and the date of installation;
t
RTRonCTSV LLERSCC ON DSM D" • SACRAMENTO OFFICE
7844 MADISON AVENUE,SUITE 167•FAIR OAKS,CALIFORNIA 95628•TELEPHONE:(916)962-1612 FAX:(916)962-2678
