The full
vertical and lateral extent of the contamination needs to be physically determined.
Additional data obtained from future work should define or provide the data to estimate the areal extent and
the total concentration of soil contamination so that the threat to the groundwater beneath the site can be
determined. If it is shown that the contamination remaining in the soil may impact the groundwater in the
future, a remedial investigation will be warranted.
Please submit a workplan to further investigate the vertical and lateral extent of the soil contamination to
PHS/EHD by April 27 1992. 11,
Also, the area near the'boilers where the piping sample was taken'can be backfilled at any time as no further
assessment will be required at that area.
If there are any questions please contact Linda Turkatte, RENS, of my staff at (209) 468-0339.
Jogi Khanna ., M.P.H.
Health O c
La 'e A.
