Jennifer Frase [EH]
From: Jennifer Frase [EH]
Sent: Thursday, January 03, 2008 4:28 PM
To: 'Gebrehawariat, Tadese'
Cc: Robert McClellon [EH]
Subject: RE: East Stockton Transfer& Recycling Station
Hi Tadese,
Yes, we have been the LEA inspecting the site for Waste Tires and we have had some minor issues with the
previous owners which have been addressed over time, and the new operator is aware of what needs to be done
with the tire pile. Since my last inspection over 700 tires have been removed from the site, properly manifested.
Their current standing is compliant. My count at the time of the last inspection was fewer than 500 tires on site,
which allows them to be without a Waste Tire Facility Permit. If, during one of your monthly inspections, you note
anything to the contrary, please feel free to contact me.
I do appreciate your introduction and concern. I look forward to meeting you in the future.
Happy New Year to you and Best Regards,
Jenni Frase, REHS
San Joaquin County
Environmental Health Department
600 E. Main Street
Stockton, CA 95202
(209) 468-9966
From: Gebrehawariat, Tadese [mailto:tgebrehawariat@CIWMB.ca.gov]
Sent: Thursday, January 03, 2008 12:06 PM
To: Jennifer Frase [EH]
Cc: Robert McClellon [EH]
Subject: East Stockton Transfer& Recycling Station
Hi Jenni - My name is Tadese Gebrehawariat and I am an inspector with the CIWMB. I work, among
others, as an EA for the City of Stockton. I am known to and have worked some with Robert and a few of
your other colleagues. Now, I am glad to introduce myself to you. Happy New Year to you and to Robert.
I inspect the subject facility on a monthly basis, and I was there last on Dec. 21, 2007. 1 have been
informed that you also inspect the facility for the waste tires program. On Dec. 21 (and prior), I observed a
pile of tires at the back end of the facility that didn't appear to be in containers (or trailers). My question for
you is, is the facility in good standing with your inspection program for waste tires? I just wanted to touch
bases with you regarding the facility and my observation of the waste tires. If you are happy with their
ways, it will give me confidence. Please, let me know and thanks.
1/3/2008
