Monitoring Well Installation and Soil and Groundwater Sampling
19589 McKinley Avenue,Manteca, CA
Dear Mr. Dana,
Light, Air, and Space Construction (LA&S) had prepared this Monitoring Well Installation and
Soil and Groundwater Sampling report for the above referenced site. As you know LA&S
prepared an underground storage tank (UST) removal and soil treatment report.dated June 30,
2006 and submitted to the San Joaquin County Environmental Health Department (EHD) under
the Voluntary Cleanup Program of the USTs. After EHD review and comment of that report,
three groundwater monitoring well locations were selected for installation near the former UST
pits and the soil stockpile location. This report presents the monitoring well installation and
related soil and monitoring well groundwater sampling, chemical analysis, 2000-foot radius well
search and discussion of the data.
1.0 Background
Two underground fuel tanks (one gasoline and one diesel) had been used on the property
adjacent to the old barn/equipment storage building until about 1985 (see Figures 1 and 2). The
tanks were removed in 2004 and soil and groundwater sampling indicated low levels of
petroleum contaminants in 2006. Approximately 300 cubic yards of soil were excavated from
the two former UST pits. Contaminants were not detected in the excavation extremity soil
samples obtained after the over-excavation of the tank pits. The soil was placed on plastic to the
rear of the barn and allowed to aerate from May 2006 through to October 2008. Water samples
collected on June 16, 2006 from the former tank pits showed Total Petroleum Hydrocarbons as
Diesel ranging from 81 parts per billion (ppb) to 5,200 ppb.
January 5, 2009 _ Page 1 of 12
MAIN OFFICE • 1707 LITI'LE ORCHARD STREE 1',SUITE A •SAN.LOSE•CA•95125
MAILING ADDRESS•P.O.Box 36303•SAN JOSE•CA•95158-6303•408/979-0601 •408079-0621 FAX•LASCONS,I @At)1-COME-MAIL
GENERAL AND ENGINEERING CONTRACI'OR•HAZARDOUS SUBSTANCE RFMOVAL CONTRAC'T'OR'SITE ENVIRONMENTAL ASSESSMENTS
WETLAND AND RIPARIAN HABITAT—ASSESSMENT—DESIGN—RESTORATION—CONS'T'RUCTION—MITIGATION MONITORING
