Von Sosten Rd
APN 209-380-52, SR0081818
The San Joaquin County Environmental Health Department (EHD) has reviewed the Soil Suitability/Nitrate
Loading (SSNL) Study, dated February 27, 2010 and its addendum dated March 11, 2019 for the above noted
location, and has the following comments for your consideration.
The SSNL Study was prepared to determine the suitability of the above noted parcel for onsite wastewater
treatment system (OWTS) usage and the potential impact of nitrate to groundwater for the proposed project
development. The proposed development project includes:
1. An existing three-bedroom house and the proposed two-bedroom second unit dwelling with the OWTS
total usage of 350 gallons per day.
Based on the information provided, the EHD can make the following findings.
1. The SSNL Study supports the suitability for standard OWTS usage for the proposed development
project on the above mentioned parcel, pursuant to San Joaquin County Ordinance Code Title 9,
Section 9-1105.2(d), provided proposed OWTS and 100% replacement area can meet all required
minimum setbacks from any water wells.
2. The data indicates the onsite water well has elevated level of nitrate and may not be a suitable source
for the potable water supply for new development.A potable water supply that can provide a consistent
source of safe and clean water adequate for human consumption, cooking, and sanitary purposes for
the proposed new home needs to be established prior to the issuance of building permits (2016 CA
Plumbing Code, Section 601.2).
Any deviation to project development or OWTS usage other than mentioned above shall require new Soil
Suitability/Nitrate Loading Study.
If you have any questions please contact Naseem Ahmed, Registered Environmental Health Specialist,
REHS, at (209) 468-3436 or nahmed@sjgov.org.
Michael Kith, REHS
Program Coordinator
c: Live Oak GeoEnviron mental
1868 E.
