k <br /> 7 a. <br /> GETTLER - RYAN INC. <br /> t � <br /> WORK PLAN FOR ADDITIONAL SUBSURFACE ASSESSMENT <br /> AND FEASIBILITY STUDY <br /> at <br /> Former Unocal Station No 0187 <br /> 437 East Miner Avenue <br /> Stockton, California <br /> Report No 240042 08 <br /> INTRODUCTION <br /> At the request of Unocal Corporation (Unocal), Gettler-Ryan Inc (GR) has prepared this Work Plan for <br /> additional subsurface assessment in response to an August 30, 2000 meeting with San Joaquin County <br /> District Attorney and San Joaquin County Public Health Services (SJCPHS) The purpose of this <br /> investigation is to delineate the horizontal and vertical extent of petroleum hydrocarbons in the soil and <br /> groundwater in the immediate vicinity of the subject site, and conduct soil and groundwater remediation <br /> feasibility testing The proposed subsurface assessment includes obtaining the required monitoring well <br /> and encroachment permits, installing twelve groundwater monitoring wells and two vapor-extraction <br /> wells, collecting selected soil samples from the borings, developing and sampling the groundwater <br /> monitoring wells, analyzing the soil and groundwater samples, surveying the newly installed wells, and <br /> preparing a report presenting the findings of the investigation The proposed feasibility testing includes <br /> installation of an on-site ozone microsparging system and performing a vapor-extraction test(VET) <br /> The scope of work described in this Work Plan is intended to comply with the State of California Water <br /> Resources Control Board's Leaking Underground Fuel Tanks (L UF7) Manual and California <br /> Underground Storage Tank Regulations, 1994, the California Regional Water Quality Control Board <br /> (CRWQCB) Tri-Regional Board Staff Recommendations for Preliminary Investigation and Evaluation of <br /> Underground Tank Sites, and SJCPHS guidelines <br /> SITE DESCRIPTION <br /> The subject site is a vacant lot situated on the northwest corner of East Miner Avenue and California <br /> Street in the city of Stockton, California, as shown on the Vicinity Map (Figure 1) The site is situated in <br /> an urban area of retail shops and hotels Topography in the site vicinity is flat lying, at an elevation of <br /> approximately 15 feet above mean sea level (MSL) Surface water in the vicinity of the site consist of <br /> McLeod Lake and the Stockton Deep Water Channel, situated approximately one-half mile to the west <br /> The site was an operating Unocal service station from 1922 until 1992 Most recently the station <br /> consisted of a three-bay station building, three product dispenser islands (D-1 through D-3), and two <br /> 0 gasoline and one waste oil underground storage tanks (USTs) in a common excavation All station <br /> facilities have been removed and the site is currently an unpaved vacant lot <br /> 6747 Sierra Court , Suite J Dublin , California 94568 - ( 925 ) 551 - 7555 <br />
