GeoStrategies Inc. <br /> UNOCAL Corporation <br /> December 15, 1993 <br /> Page 2 <br /> EXECUTIVE SUMMARY <br /> • Eight soil borings were drilled at the subject site to depths between 4 5 <br /> and 31 5 feet below ground surface (bgs) Fill material was <br /> encountered in the uppermost 10 feet of most borings Groundwater <br /> was not encountered in these borings <br /> • Petroleum hydrocarbons were detected only in Borings U-C and U-D <br /> TPH-Gasoline concentrations ranged from 1 ,600 to 2,900 parts per <br /> million (ppm) Benzene was not detected in these samples <br /> PREVIOUS WORK <br /> Two gasoline and one waste oil underground storage tanks (UST) were <br /> removed and the station building demolished on January 7, 1993 A second <br /> waste oil tank was removed May 6, 1993 Petroleum hydrocarbons were <br /> detected only in the product piping trenches These areas were <br /> overexcavated, and confirming soil samples did not detect petroleum <br /> hydrocarbons Refer to GSI Report No 782701-1 , Tank Removal <br /> Observation Report, dated September 11 , 1992 <br /> SITE DESCRIPTION <br /> The subject site is a vacant lot situated on the northwest corner of East <br /> Miner Avenue and California Street in the City of Stockton, California Local <br /> topography is flat-lying, with an elevation of approximately 15 feet above <br /> Mean Sea Level (MSL) McLeod Lake and the Stockton Deep Water <br /> Channel are approximately one-half mile to the west Previous site activities <br /> indicate the site is underlain by fill material of unknown origin <br /> 782702-3 <br />
