Comments:
EHD received a complaint regarding storage of waste tires at this facility. An inspection was conducted and the
following was noted:
1.)A/C T14 CCR 17354- Facility has greater than 499 waste tires on site and is storing waste tires along the
perimeter fence. Waste tires are also being stored within 40 feet of used tires.
a.)Tire storage piles containing less than 500 waste tires shall be located no closer than 10 feet from lot lines or
buildings; however, tire piles containing less than 500 waste tires may be stored within 10 feet of lot lines or
buildings after the operator has obtained approval from the fire code official. Waste tire piles containing less than
500 waste tires shall not exceed 6 feet in height when within 20 feet of any property line, building, or perimeter
fencing. Side slopes shall not exceed 60 degrees. Any individual waste tire pile shall be separated from any
other waste tire pile, combustible ground vegetation, stored used tires, waste tire material, or products made
from tires, by a distance of at least 40 feet.
b.) Either reduce the amount of waste tires on site to below 500, move waste tires so that the piles are no closer
than 10 feet from lot lines or buildings and 40 feet from used tires, or obtain alternative storage approval from
the local fire authority.
Notes:
1.)Waste tires are stored on the east, west, and north sides of the facility. 350 waste tires were counted
directly. These tires were stored along the sides of the building (east, west). The remaining waste tire count was
comprised of used tires that were store improperly. 1 pile located in the northwest corner of the property
measured 271 x 10'W x 61-1.The tires were loosely stored. The resulting PTE calculation for this pile with a 20%
reduction was 480. The second pile located adjacent (east) measured 10'L x 20'W x 6'H. The tires in this pile
were also loosely stored. The resulting PTE calcuation for this pile with a 20% reduction was 355.55. The total
waste tire count for the facility was 835.55 (PTE) + 350 = 1185.5 (1186).
2.) Permission to inspect the facility was given by Ibrar Khan (owner).
3.)TPID certificate is posted behind the counter.
4.) Facility uses "Waste Recovery West, Inc."for the removal of waste tires and the delivery of used tires.
Manifests were available for review.
5.) Retain all waste tire manifests, disposal receipts, and logs for 3 years.
6.) Facility only stores it's waste tires at this location.
7.) Inspection report will be emailed to kibrar87@yahoo.com
