J. Kloberdanz&Associates (MJK)was approved for
implementation. However, with the exception of the recently received Sensitive Receptor Survey,
the work was never completed.
SJC/EHD has discussed the history and current status of this site with representatives of the
Regional Water Quality Control Board, Central Valley Region (CVRWQCB). In December 2000
three direct push soil borings were advanced onsite to collect soil and grab groundwater samples in
the area of a former diesel underground storage tank (UST)and associated dispenser area.
Analytical results from samples collected were positive for total petroleum hydrocarbons as diesel.
In one boring, 8-3, the concentrations of contaminant increased with depth. The CVRWQCB has
stated that another scope of work must be completed that would include collection and analysis of
additional soil and groundwater samples so that contaminant concentrations can be compared with
the previous samples to determine if there is a declining trend.
SJC/EHD directs the approved July 26, 2001 work plan be implemented with the following
modifications:
1. The number of proposed geoprobe borings may be reduced to three, each to be located
within five feet of the previously installed borings.
2. If soil samples are positive for total petroleum hydrocarbons as diesel the sample with the
highest concentration, and all water samples, must be analyzed for polynuclear aromatics.
Please proceed with submittal of a San Joaquin County Well Permit Application, required $89.00
permit fee and $285.00 permit inspection fee, and with scheduling the approved work. SJC/EHD
recommends that Manteca USD apply to the State Water Resources Control Board Cleanup Fund,
which is a program available to qualified sites for reimbursement of costs from contaminated UST
site investigations. If you have any questions please call Lori Duncan at (209)468-0337.
Donna Heran, REHS, Director
Environmental Health Department
Lori Duncan, Senior REHS Margare agorio, REHS
LOP/Site Mitigation Unit IV Program Coordinator, Unit IV
cc: James Barton, PG, CVRWQCB
Mike Klnherdanz MJK
