21 February 2000
AGE-NC Project No. 95-0185
Ground Water Monitoring Wells
• TPH-d was detected in ground water samples collected from monitoring wells MW-1, MW-
2, MW-3 and MW-4 at concentrations of 7,100 micrograms per liter (µg/1), 6,800,ug/l, 140
µg/l, and 75,000µg/l, respectively. TPH-g was detected only in ground water samples from
wells MW-1 and MW-4 at concentrations of 180 µg/1 and 280 µg11, respectively.
' 0 Benzene was detected in wells MW-1,MW-3 and MW-4 at concentrations of 2.0 4g/l, 0.62
µg11 and 2.1 ug/l, respectively. Other BTEX compounds were detected in each of the wells.
' Analytical results of well ground water samples are summarized in Table 2. The laboratory report
(MAI Laboratory I.D.Nos. 14858 and 14588),quality control and quality assurance data and chain-
of-custody form are included in Appendix D.
' Grab Water Samples
' TPH-g was detected in three of the grab ground water samples collected from the site at
concentrations ranging from 400 µg/l to 23,000 µg/l. TPH-d was detected in all five of the
grab ground water samples analyzed at concentrations from 74 ,ug/l to 580,000 µg/1.
• Benzene was detected in two of the water samples analyzed at concentrations of 67 µg/I in
boring B5 and 370 µg11 in boring B2. Toluene was detected in.each of the water samples
' analyzed at concentrations ranging from 0.56 4g11 in boring B 14 to 57 µg11 in boring B2.
Other BTEX compounds were detected at concentrations as high as 850 µg/1.
' MTBE was detected in four of the water samples analyzed at concentrations ranging from
2.1 µg11 in boring B 18 to 2,900µg/1 in boring B2. TBA was detected in three of the water
samples analyzed at concentrations ranging from 12,ug/1 in boring B 14 to 270µg/1 in boring
' B5.
Analytical results of grab ground water samples analyzed are summarized in Table 3. The laboratory
reports (MAI Laboratory ID12442 to12446), quality assurance and quality control (QA/QC)reports
' and chain-of-custody forms are included in Appendix E.
' Ground Water Microbiological Analysis
A water sample from well MW-1 was analyzed for bio-enumeration and physicochemical
characterization by A. Keith Kaufman, M.S.
The water sample was found to have concentrations of inorganic components sufficient to support
' a microfauha for bioremediation. Nitrogen, potassium and phosphates were at sufficient levels to
support a microfauna for bioremediation. The water sample had moderate microbiological
population as biodegraders. This population of bioremedateing microfauna indicates a possible
1 bioattenuatiori of the contaminates. - -
Advanced GeoEnvi ron mental,Inc.
1
