' 18 August 1997
•
AGE-NC Project No. 95-0185
' sample from MW-1, near the former UST area, at 1.2 ppb. Analytical results of monitoring well
ground water samples are summarized in Table 2. The laboratory report(MAI Laboratory I.D. Nos.
77316 to 77319), and chain-of-custody form are included in Appendix B.
4.0. SUMMARY AND CONCLUSIONS
tThe following conclusions were drawn from the results of this investigation:
• Ground water elevation at the site increased, reaching the lower vertical extent of the former
UST excavation.
' A well survey revealed the presence of three municipal and/or domestic ground water wells
within 2,000 feet of the site. Available documentation indicates that each well had an
approved sanitary seal installed.
' Hydrocarbon-impacted soil remains in the vicinity of the former UST area. Approximately
95 cubic yards, and possibly more, of hydrocarbon-impacted soil remains in the vadose zone
lie at the site.
• Concentrations of TPH-g and BTE&X hydrocarbons have remained stable in the area of the
impacted monitoring wells, both on the site and off the site. However a significant increase
of TPH-d concentrations were observed in the core area of the dissolved hydrocarbon plume.
Well MW-2 appears to be Iocated beyond the southern edge of the dissolved TPH-d plume
and the location of monitoring well MW-3 remained within the western boundary of the
plume.
' The northern and eastern margins of the dissolved phase plume have not been fully
delineated.
5.0. RECOMMENDATIONS
' Based upon data collected at the site, AGE recommends the following:
g
• To reduce the concentration of TPH-d in the groundwater at the site,-.AGE recommends an . ;
interim active remediation of the remaining petroleum hydrocarbon-impacted soil. Removal
of TPH-d impacted soil would reduce the hydrocarbon mass remaining in contact with or
' near the ground water at the site.
. Soil accumulated from the installation of the monitoring well has been aerating. The soil
' -should be sampled, analyzed and spread on the site if hydrocarbon concentrations have been
AAanced GeoEnvironmental,Inc.
