i
17 November 1998
AGE-NC Project No.95-0185
GROUND WATER DEPTH AND FLOW DIRECTION
In December 1996, ground water depth at the site was approximately 19 feet below surface grade
(bsg). Regional ground water flow direction in the area of the site is toward the southwest; however,
flow direction can vary locally and seasonally. Recently ground water depths have ranged from 16
to 19 feet bsg.
ADDITION OF HYDROGEN PEROXIDE TO GROUND WATER
The addition of hydrogen peroxide has been shown to increase dissolved oxygen concentrations and
stimulate microbial activity and degradation of petroleum hydrocarbons in ground water at similar
sites. Since the byproducts of hydrogen peroxide are water and oxygen, additional permitting is not
required for addition to ground water.
The proposed scope of work includes the addition of approximately 80 gallons of 1% hydrogen
peroxide(H2O2)to ground water at the site through the existing monitoring wells Approximately ten
gallons of 1% hydrogen peroxide solution will be added to wells MW-1 and MW-4. Dissolved
oxygen will continue to be measured in each well on a quarterly basis. Future use of this treatment,
if necessary, will be based upon evaluation of data collected during the following monitoring events:
The addition of hydrogen peroxide to ground water will be performed in late November 1998.
Quarterly ground water monitoring will be performed on 07 December 1998. As proposed in the
Quarterly Report-June 1998, each monitoring well will be sampled at that time.
Upon approval of the scope of work, we will schedule work at the site. If you have any questions
or require further information, please contact our office at(209) 467-1006.
Sincerely,
Advanced GeoEnvironmental, Inc.
William Little
Staff Geologist
cc: Mr. Lee Shockey
A
Advanced GeoEnvironmental,Inc.
