Quarterly Report - First Quarter 2000
Mel Bokides Petroleum - Manteca
983 Moffat Boulevard, Manteca, California
' 1.0. INTRODUCTION
At the request of Mr.Nick Bokides of Mel Bokides Petroleum(MBP),Advanced GeoEnvironmental,
' Inc. (AGE) has prepared this quarterly report for 983 Moffat Boulevard, Manteca, California (site).
The scope of work included the installation of four ground water monitoring wells, performance of
one ground water monitoring event, and procurement of laboratory analysis of soil and ground water
' samples. The purpose for these activities this quarter was to assess the lateral extent of petroleum
hydrocarbon impact to ground water at the site. The location of the site is illustrated on Figure 1. A
plan of the site is illustrated on Figure 2.
Background information and results of prior investigations at the site were included in the
Preliminary Investigation and Evaluation Report (PIER) dated 09 March 1999, prepared by AGE.
This report is prepared in accordance with guidelines established by the Central Valley Regional
Water Quality Control Board(CVRWQCB)and by the San Joaquin County Public Health Services -
Environmental Health Division(PHS-EHD)for subsurface investigation of underground storage tank
(UST) system sites.
2.0. '
2.1. DRILLING/SAMPLING AND WELL DESIGN
On 12 and 13 January 2000 four ground water monitoring wells were installed on-site. Drilling and
sampling was performed using a truck-mounted CME 75-HT drill rig equipped with continuous
' flight 8-inch augers. The drill rig and two-man crew were provided by WestHaz Mat Drilling of
Rancho Cordova, California.
Soil samples were collected from each boring at five-foot intervals, beginning at five feet below .-
' surface grade (bsg), using a California split tube sampler loaded with three clean 2-inch by 6-inch
brass sleeves. A 140-pound hammer was utilized to advance the sampler 18 inches-, the number of
' blows required to advance the sampler over each 6-inch increment was recorded on the boring logs.
. All sampling equipment'was washed in an Alconox solution and rinsed twice with water prior to
each sampling run.
' Both ends of the soil sleeve of each sample collected for laboratory analysis were covered with
