f
REPORT
SUBSURFACE ENVIRONMENTAL INVESTIGATION
i
at
Former Valley Volkswagen
647 East.Miner.Street
Stockton, California 95202
INTRODUCTION
At the request of Mr. Jay Friedman, Ground Zero Analysis, Inc. (Ground Zero) is submitting this
report summarizing the results of the subsurface environmental investigation conducted at the
former Valley Volkswagen site, 647 East Miner Street, Stockton California. The site is currently
not occupied by a tenant, however, a sign on the vacant building indicated that it was previously
occupied by a Paint Company as shown on Figure 1 - Site Location Map, and Figure 2 - Site
Plan/Site Vicinity Map.
The May 22-23, 1995 subsurface environmental investigation was conducted by Ground Zero
based on the San Joaquin County Public Health Services, Environmental Health Division
(PHS/EHD) letter dated November 28, 1994 in which a workplan for a subsurface environmental
investigation was requested. Four soil borings were drilled onsite, and one was completed as a
groundwater monitoring well, in order to provide information on the lateral and vertical extent of
volatile organic compounds (VOC's) potentially impacting soil and groundwater.
Soil sampling conducted in July, August and September, 1987 by Canonie Environmental of
Stockton, California and Kleinfelder of Sacramento, California as part of the removal of two
waste oil underground storage tanks (UST's), indicated the presence of petroleum hydrocarbons
in soil beneath the tanks.
BACKGROUND
The site is located in a predominantly commercial and residential area,-on the northwest corner of
Miner Street and Stanislaus Street in Stockton, California. The site consists of a vacant building
surrounded by asphalt parking areas. The building has a sign in front indicating that it was
previously occupied by the Morton Valley Paint Company. An Auto Service business is located
adjacent to and directly north of the site. Used car dealerships are, located on the three
surrounding corners of the intersection of Miner Street and Stanislaus Street (Figure 2- Site
Plan/Site Vicinity Map).
