"1 ri
r
29 December 2003
AGE-NC Project No 95-0103
• The analysis of soil samples collected from beneath the on-site garage building suggests that
the vertical and lateral extent of impacted soil is defined
• The average ground water level has decreased from a high of 9 feet in April 2000 to
approximately 17 feet below the top of the casing in November 2003 The decrease in water
depth may have i educed the volume of water each extraction well can produce, and possibly
caused lower dilutions of the extracted ground water, thus causing contaminant
concentrations in extraction wells to remain significant, when compared to the lower
concentrations of contaminants detected in the monitoring wells
5.0 RECOMMENDATIONS
Based on data collected at the site to date, AGE recommends
• Remediate petroleum hydrocarbon-impacted soil beneath the on-site garage building
• The dissolved hydrocarbon concentrations detected from ground water samples collected at
the influent end of the treatment system have generally declined over the remediation period,
however, the benzene concentrations have remained at levels which mayjustify additional site
remediation
• Continued monthly and quarterly ground water monitoring, the next ground water monitoring
event is scheduled for February 2004,at which time water samples should be collected from
additional, selected wells (e g ,wells VE-I and VE-5) in order to delineate the ground water
contaminant plume
6.0.
