Walsh <br /> & Associates, Inc <br /> ' Environmental Scientists and Engineers <br /> ' August 25, 1993 <br /> Mr Russell Chapin <br /> ' Chapin Brothers, Inc <br /> 1203 N Carlton Avenue <br /> Stockton, California 95203 <br /> Subject Laboratory Analytical Results of Tank Removal Soil Samples <br /> ' 1766 Monte Diablo <br /> Stockton, California <br /> Dear Mr Chapin <br /> On August 4, 1993, Walsh& Associates, Inc (WALSH) collected a total of six soil samples from <br /> beneath two 8,000-gal and two 4,000-gal underground gasoline storage tank (Figure 1) WALSH <br /> ' returned to the site on August 6, to collect one soil sample from beneath a 550-gallon <br /> underground waste oil tank, and one sample from beneath the waste oil delivery line With the <br /> exception of the waste oil pipeline sample, which was collected in situ, all of these samples were <br /> ' collected from the backhoe bucket using a hand-operated percussion core sampler <br /> Five composited soil samples were collected from stockpiled soil generated from the tank <br /> excavation work The stockpile samples were collected in situ with a hand-operated percussion <br /> core sampler after removing approximately I ft of soil from the surface of the pile Three <br /> individual soil samples were collected for approximately every 50 cu yd of soil All samples <br /> ' were sealed by placing aluminum foil, plastic end caps and duct tape over the ends of the sample <br /> sleeves The samples were placed directly in iced storage, and delivered under the required chain <br /> of custody to Matrix Environmental Laboratories of Rancho Cordova, California <br /> ' All of the soil samples selected for laboratory testing were analyzed for total petroleum <br /> hydrocarbons as gasoline (TPHg)using EPA Method 8015 (modified) and for the volatile organic <br /> ' constituents benzene, toluene, ethylbenzene, and total xylene isomers using EPA Method 8020 <br /> A single tank removal soil sample was analyzed for soluble lead (using the DHS Waste <br /> Extraction Test) and for ethylene dibromide (EDB) using EPA Method 8240 The waste <br /> West Coast Division <br /> 1734 34th Street Suite B Sacramento, California 95816 Phone (916) 737-7240 FAX (916) 737-7245 <br /> Corporate Office <br /> ' 4888 Pearl East Circle Suite 108 Boulder, Colorado 80301-2475 Phone (303) 443-3282 FAX (303) 443-0367 <br />
