. 10 May 1999 <br /> AGE-NC Project No 95-0103 <br /> Page 2 of 5 <br /> hydrocarbon-impacted soil and ground water on site Considerable decrease in the on-site <br /> concentrations of dissolved hydrocarbons have been documented However, confirmation soil data <br /> has not been collected to confirm the reduction of hydrocarbons in the soil on the site <br /> Over the course of the remediation an area in the west of the site,determined to outside the SVE/IAS <br /> systems apparent area of influence, has not experienced a significant reduction of dissolved <br /> hydrocarbons In fact concentrations of hydrocarbons have risen or remained stable over the duration <br /> of the remediation <br /> 21 PROPOSED DRILLING AND SAMPLING <br /> AGE proposed to install three soil boring on-site to determine the vertical extent of the hydrocarbons <br /> in soil at the site and to verify the removal of the hydrocarbons from the vadose zone These boring <br /> will be advanced to a depth of 35 feet below surface grade (bsg) or to greater depths based on field <br /> indications and measurements Two of the these soil boring were approved by the PHS-EHD in a <br /> 1 I February 1998 work plan addendum The third soil boring was requested by the PHS-EHD in a <br /> 13 April 1999 Ietter <br /> Additionally,one soil boring is proposed southwest of the well MW-3 and six off-site `hydro-punch' <br /> and one on-site `hydro-punch' bonngs are proposed The soil boring will be advanced to a depth of <br /> 35 feet bsg or to greater depths based on field indications and measurements and the `hydro-punch' <br /> will be advanced to a depth of 15 feet bsg The soil boring locations are illustrated on Figure 2 <br /> The soil borings will be installed using a truck-mounted GeoProbe ng and 1 5-inch hollow stem <br /> push rods Soil samples will be collected at five-foot intervals and preserved for analysis Water <br /> samples will be collected from designated soil borings for analysis <br /> 2 2 EQUIPMENT DECONTAMINATION <br /> All push rod will be cleaned thoroughly with a solution of Alconox, and triple rinsed with clean <br /> water prior to advancement All sampling tools will be washed with a solution of Alconox, and <br /> triple rinsed with clean water prior to sample collection <br /> 23 LABORATORY ANALYSIS <br /> . Selected soil and ground water samples will be preserved in the field, stored in a chilled container, <br /> under ice and transported to a State of California Department of Health Services(DHS)-certified on- <br /> Advanced GeoEnviron mental,Inc <br />
