• 10 May 1999 <br /> AGE-NC Project No 95-0103 <br /> Page 4 of 5 <br /> screened for the presence of volatile organic compounds using an organic vapor meter (OVM) <br /> equipped with a photo ionization detector(PID)pre-calibrated to isobutylene <br /> Following sample collection, each preserved sample sleeve will be labeled with the boring location, <br /> depth,time, date and sampler's mitrals Appropriately sealed and labeled samples will be placed in <br /> a chilled container under ice and transported under chain-of-custody procedure to a DHS-certified <br /> laboratory <br /> 3 3 GROUND WATER SAMPLING PROCEDURES <br /> For the collection of"grab" ground water samples, selected probe borings will be advanced to the <br /> top of the ground water table at a depth of 10 feet bsg Once ground water has been encountered, a <br /> Geoprobe push driven water sampling device will be advanced two to three feet into the water <br /> bearing zone Grab ground water samples will be collected using a Geoprobe water sampling <br /> assembly or a pre-cleaned one-inch 0 01 slotted temporary well screen Each ground water sample <br /> will be extracted by lowering a Teflon bailer through the hollow center of the push rods into the <br /> screen section Samples will be collected in laboratory-supplied, 40-m1 VOA vials containing 0 5 <br /> ml of hydrochloric acrd (18%) as sample preservative and 1-liter amber bottles The labeled vials <br /> will be placed in a chilled container under ice and transported under chain-of-custody to a DHS- <br /> certified laboratory <br /> 3 4 EQUIPMENT DECONTAMINATION <br /> All sampling tools used for sample collection will be thoroughly rinsed with clean water after being <br /> washed with a solution of Alconox All down-hole drilling and sampling equipment will be pressure <br /> washed prior to starting the boring <br /> Decontamination water generated during the ground water sampling activities will be contained in <br /> DOT-approved drums which will be appropriately labeled for storage Drums containing <br /> decontamination water will be stored on-site pending appropriate removal and disposal <br /> 3 5 BORING ABANDONMENT <br /> All probe borings will be permanently sealed to prevent vertical migration of contaminants Soil <br /> borings shall be abandoned by backfilling with cement slurry from the total depth to surface grade <br /> Advanced GeolEnvironmenial,Inc <br />
