AGE-NC-95-0103 <br /> Page 2 of 4 <br /> One additional IAS well will be necessary to remediate the ground water in the northeastern portion <br /> of the site and maximize cleanup efficiency No up-gradient monitoring point from the highest <br /> concentrations of the dissolved plume (MW-4) Therefore an additional monitoring well should be <br /> installed east of well MW-4 <br /> AGE proposed to install one 2-inch diameter ground water monitoring east of the site, one ground <br /> water in-situ air sparging (IAS), dual-completed as a soil vapor extraction well south of monitoring <br /> well MW-4 and establish two soil boring to determine the vertical extent of the hydrocarbons in soil <br /> at the site and to verify the removal of the hydrocarbons from the vadose zone The proposed well <br /> and soil boring locations are illustrated on Figure 2 <br /> The soil bonngs will be installed using a truck-mounted drill rig and 8-inch hollow stem augers Soil <br /> samples will be collected at five-foot intervals and preserved for analysis <br /> 2 2 EQUIPMENT DECONTAMINATION <br /> • All augers will be steam-cleaned or thoroughly washed with a solution of Alconox, and triple rinsed <br /> with clean water prior to advancement All sampling tools will be washed with a solution of <br /> Alconox, and triple rinsed with clean water prior to sample collection <br /> 23 LABORATORY ANALYSIS <br /> Selected soil samples will be analyzed for total petroleum hydrocarbons quantified as gasoline(TPH- <br /> g),volatile aromatics (benzene, toluene,ethylbenzene and xylenes BTE&X)and in accordance with <br /> EPA Method 8260 and 8260m for volatile organic compounds, methyl-tertiary butyl ether(MTBE), <br /> tertiary butyl alcohol (TBA),di-isopropyl ether(DIPE),ethyl tertiary butyl ether (ETBE)and tertiary <br /> amyl methyl ether (TAME) <br /> Laboratory reports of both soil and ground water analysis, testing methods, laboratory quality <br /> assurance/quality control (QA/QC) reports and sample chain-of-custody documentation will be <br /> presented in a report with the findings and recommendations <br /> 3 0. PROCEDURES <br /> 3 1 DRILLING AND SAMPLING <br /> • The following procedures will be performed for the installation of additional wells and soil borings <br />
