17 August 1998 <br /> AGE-NC Project No 95-0103 <br /> ' Page 2 of 7 <br /> ' 22 MONITORING WELL PURGE PROCEDURES <br /> On 30 June 1998, a Solinst water level meter was used to measure the depth to ground water in <br /> ' monitoring wells MW-1 through MW-7 relative to the tops of the well casings The relative ground <br /> water elevations were calculated by subtracting the depths to ground water from the surveyed well <br /> 1 casing elevations (Table 1) <br /> After measuring and recording the depth to ground water measurements, monitoring wells MW-I <br /> through MW-7 were purged using a two-stage purge pump A minimum of three well volumes of <br /> water was removed from each well Ground water parameters (temperature, pH and conductivity) <br /> of purged ground water were measured at two and five-gallon intervals using an ICM model 52200 <br /> ' water analyzer Dissolved oxygen measurements of ground water were collected using a YSI-55 <br /> dissolved oxygen meter <br /> ' The purge pump was washed in an Alconox solution and rinsed with tap water prior to purging each <br /> well Purged water was stored in 55-gallon drums on property Field measurements of the ground <br /> water purging parameters are included in Appendix A <br /> M <br /> 23 GROUND WATER SAMPLE COLLECTION <br /> Water samples were retrieved from each purged well using new disposable bailers The samples <br /> t were transferred into 40-m1 EPA-approved VOA vials containing 0 5 ml of 18% hydrochloric acid <br /> as a sample preservative and were transported in a chilled container under chain-of-custody to <br /> McCampbell Analytical,Inc (MAI), in Pacheco, California, for laboratory analysis Samples were <br /> ' analyzed for <br /> • Total petroleum hydrocarbons quantified as gasoline (TPH-g)m accordance with EPA <br /> ' method 8015m, <br /> • Volatile aromatic compounds (benzene,toluene, ethyl-benzene and total xylenes BTE&X) <br /> and methyl-tert-butyl ether(MTBE) in accordance with EPA method 8020 and <br /> ' • Oxygenating fuel additives tertiary butyl alcohol (TBA), di-isopropyl ether (DIPE), ethyl <br /> tertiary butyl ether(ETBE) and tertiary amyl methyl ether(TAME) in accordance with EPA <br /> ' method 8260m <br /> 1 <br /> Advanced Ceol nvironmental,Inc <br /> 1 <br />
