San Joaquin Street
Stockton, CA 95201
Subject: Soil Remediation Plan
1660 Beyers Road
Stockton, California
Dear Mr. Knoll:
Walsh & Associates, Inc. (Walsh) is pleased to present this work plan for the remediation of
stockpiled soil generated from the tank removal at 1766 Monte Diablo Avenue in Stockton,
California. Soil removed from the Diablo Avenue site was stockpiled and contained at the Beyers
Road property with plastic sheeting and bales of hay. The stockpile was sampled and composite
samples were laboratory tested for gasoline and the associated volatile constituents. The results
of the analyses indicated that gasoline was present in concentrations ranging from 0 to 37 parts
per million. No benzene was detected in any of the composited samples (see laboratory reports).
Walsh has proposed to conduct an uncontrolled soil aeration project at the Beyers Road property.
Soil will be spread in place and along ranch access roads to an approximate depth of I foot. The
soil will be tilled once or twice a week for a duration of eight or nine weeks. Confirmation
sampling will include laboratory analysis of one composite sample for every 50 cu yds of soil,
and two composited soil samples collected from the soil and road material directly beneath the
stockpiled soil layer. These two additional soil samples will be used to confirm that contaminants
did not infiltrate native soil. All soil samples collected will be analyzed for Total Petroleum
Hydrocarbons as gasoline (TPHg) and for the associated volatile constituents benzene, toluene,
ethylbenzene, and total xylene isomers(BTEX). The laboratory analyses will be performed using
EPA Methods 8015 (modified)/5030 and EPA Method 8020, respectively. The analyses will be
performed by Matrix Environmental Laboratories of Rancho Cordova, California. Matrix is
certified by the State of California for these analyses. All samples will be collected in situ,
sealed, placed in iced storage, and transported directly to the environmental laboratory under a
chain of custody record.
West Coast Division:
1734 34th Street .
