TABLE 1
APPARENT FREE-PHASE PRODUCT THICKNESS
1766 MONTE DIABLO, STOCKTON, CALIFORNIA
DATE DTP DTW APT
August 16, 1993 21.64 24.98 3.34
August 19, 1993 21.87 21.96 0.09
September 2, 1993 21.84 21.94 0.10
All measurements given in feet
DTP - Depth to Product
DTW - Depth to Water
APT = Apparent Product Thickness
Following the removal of approximately 20 gal of liquid (5 to 6 gal of product) from the well
during a period of approximately 75 minutes, the depth to water was recorded at 28.45 ft (4 ft
of drawdown). Recharge rate was calculated to be approximately 0.27 ft/min or approximately
0.43 gal/minute. A bailer lowered slowly through the air/water interface after the static water
level had recovered to ?90% indicated the presence of approximately 0.2 in of free-phase product
remaining on the surface of the water.
TEST II
WALSH returned to the site on August 19, 1993 to conduct a second bail down test. Depth to
product was measured at 21.87 ft below the top of the well casing, while depth to water was
measured at 21.96 ft (Table 1). The apparent product thickness was 0.09 ft or 1.1 inches.
Retrieval of the first bailer indicated the presence of approximately 0.20 in of free-phase product
floating on the groundwater surface. After withdrawing approximately 5 gal of liquid from the
well, depth to water was 25.74 ft (N3.8 ft of drawdown). Recharge rate was calculated at 0.31
ft/min or approximately 0.5 gal/minute. Three additional gallons were removed from the well
and no floating product was observed in any of the twelve columns of water.
TEST III
Two weeks late on September 2, 1993, WALSH returned to the site a third time to perform a
visual inspection and final bail down test. Depth to product was measured at 21.84 ft below the
top of the well casing, while depth to water was 21.94 ft (Table 1). The apparent product
thickness was 0.10 ft or 1.2 inches. Retrieval of the first bailer indicated the presence of
approximately 0.19 in of free-phase product floating on the groundwater surface. Approximately
10 to 11 gal of liquid was removed from the well during a period of 23 minutes. The water level
at that time was 27.86 ft (;z6.2 ft of drawdown). The recharge rate was calculated at 0.33 ft/min
XV 9117193 1685-020.prr
. 2>.,..
& Associatt , ]nc.
F,i1Vir4n113Cntad scientists and F.ngrincers
