Samples were collected under your
supervision, at locations approved_ by you, and were submitted to Western Environmental
Science and Technology (WEST) Laboratory in Davis, California, for analysis of total
,.. petroleum hydrocarbons as diesel (TPHd).and motor oil JTPHmo) following the toxicity
characteristic leaching procedure (TCLP) listed in Test Methods for Evaluating Solid Waste
Ph ical/Chemical Methods. November 1986 SW-846 Third Edition. Analytical laboratory
+,- data sheets are presented in Attachment A and summarized in Table 1. in brief, TPHd and
TPHmo were not identified at or above the analytical method reporting limit in any of the ten
samples. Based on these results Sheldon would like to begin backfilling the excavation as
- soon as possible,
In the September 3, 1993, BC Status Report For Kent's Oil Remediation Project there was
* a recommendationto place approximately 2 feet of compacted clay material in the base of the
excavation to act as a liner. However, since than; recommendation was presented to the
County, Kleinfelder, Inc. (Kleinfelder), the geotechnical engineering firm responsible for the
L" design and certification of the backfilling of the excavation, has recommended that a clay liner
not be used. They recommend that "multiple layers of 6 or 10 mil visqueen with proper
overlapping and caulked seams be considered."
