,l
Fourth Quarter 2003 Groundwater Monitoring Report
Eckert Cold Storage,Manteca,California
January 13,2004
Page 3
LABORATORY ANALYTICAL RESULTS
The groundwater samples collected from monitor wells MW-4, MW-5, MW-7, MW-8, and domestic well
DW-1 were analyzed for BTEX, TPH-G, and selected gasoline oxygenates/additives including MTBE by
Argon Laboratories of Ceres, California. The current laboratory analytical results, shown in Table 2,
below, are generally consistent with historical laboratory analytical results. Historical groundwater
monitoring data are included in Attachment C. Laboratory certificates of analyses and the chain-of-
custody for the samples are included in Attachment D.
Table 2--Groundwater Sample Laboratory Analytical Results (December 12, 2003)
GASOLINE OXYGENATES/ADDITIVES
B T E X TPH-C
MTBE Other Gasoline Oxygenates/Additives
Units: pg/L pg/L pg/L pg/L mg/L pg/L pL
Analytical Method:
8260B. 8260B 8260E 8260E 8015M 82608 8260B
Sample I.D.
3471-MW4-12/12/03 <0.5 <0.5 <0.5 <1.0 <0.05 7.0 15(1,2-DCA)
3471-MW5-12/12/03 <0.5 <0.5 <0.5 <L0 <0.05 1.1 2.3(1,2-DCA)
3471-M W 7-12112103 <0.5 <0.5 <0.5 <1.0 <0.05 <0.5 <0.5-<5.0
3471-MWS-12/12/03 8.9 <0.5 6.9 <1.0 0.43 3.4 14(TBA); 1.4(1,2-DCA)
3471-DWI-12/12/03# <05 <0.5 <0.5 <1.0 <0.05 <D.5 <0.5--<5.0
#:3471-DW1-12112103 mistakenly identified as 3471-SWI-12/12/03 on Chain of Custody and Laboratory Reports.
Units: Analytical:
mg/L:milligrams per liter,parts per million(ppm) B,T,E,X=benzene,toluene,ethyl benzene,total xylenes
pg/L:micrograms per liter, parts per billion(ppb) TPH-G=total petroleum hydrocarbons quantified as gasoline
Gasoline oxygenates/additives= methyl tertiary butyl ether(MTBE),ethanol,
tertiary-butanol (TBA), di-isopropyl ether (DIPS), ethyl tertiary butyl ether
(ETBE), tertiary amyl methyl ether(TAME), 1,2-dibromoethane(EBB), 1,2-
dichloroethane(1,2-DCA)
= all other oxygenates/additives were not detected at or above the
laboratory reported detection limits
FUTURE WORK/RECOMMENDATIONS
The SJCEHD has indicated that continued quarterly groundwater monitoring is required at the site. The
next quarterly monitoring event is scheduled for March 2044. This will be a quarterly sampling event and
consist of sampling monitor wells MW-4, MW-8, and the domestic well DW-1. Condor recommends that
monitor well MW-5 be repaired and resurveved or destroyed.
,i
`a CONDOR
