Flood Control and Water Conservation District Map, (Plate <br /> IV,) shows that the depth to the water table is about tS•, or 23• <br /> below ground surface. Water depths in monitoring wells to the <br /> north of the property were in close agreement with this map. No <br /> water or significant moisture was encountered during excavation. <br /> LOCATION OF MUNICAL. & MONITORING WELLS: The latest information <br /> available to 'the writer shows ' that the nearest municipal water <br /> wells are approximately 1/2 mile to the north and 1/2 mile to the <br /> southeast. The nearest monitoring well is about 8/10th& of a <br /> mile to the northwest an or near Moffat Blvd. Refer to Plate JCI <br /> for more detail. <br /> PRIOR HISTORY OF SITE: The Liffice adjacent to the UST location is <br /> currently vacant, but had been occupied by a Pony Express Courier <br /> service; the tank was used to service the fleet of vehicles used <br /> by the company. There are no records available concerning fuel <br /> usage or amount of spillage, if any. <br /> On-August.;<24, 1989, Jim Thorpe 'Oil, `Inc. removsd,one` ' (1) ::l,o0o <br /> gallon -underground:'storage " tank which had ronteined unleaded;., <br /> garolxne._ A slight gasoline odor was noted during tank removal, <br /> but no` soil discoloration or other evidence of leakage was <br /> evident in the spoil removed or the excavation. The tank and <br /> piping were in9 ood condition. The tank was triple--rinsed and <br /> MiR <br /> R disposed of propperly, (refer to Exhibit"B".) Two. (2); soil samples <br /> were tpken.b nie Environmental '.beneatii the' tank cradleo"-'at <br /> depthe'.of:'.8• at he"'nc�rth end ;'and 10'":at: the sdUth "end. Refer <br /> to Plate VII for locations of. the two samples. The results of <br /> the laboratory analyses showed detectable amounts of Xylene and <br /> TVPH,, refer to Table 1 for details. At the conclusion of this <br /> work, the excavation was approximately 14' long X 8' wide X 6' <br /> deep. The removed spoil, about 25 cubic yards, was placed on <br /> Plastic in an empty storage yard adjacent to the excavation, <br /> _ (refer to Plate VI.) <br /> On April 26, 1990, Jim Thorpe ail, Inc. ,ubmitted a soil re-exca- <br /> vation/resample workplan (refer to Exhibit "C",) to enlarge the <br /> existimg 'excavation' "to"approximately .:22 X ::, 14'. X 17' deep, <br /> - -.-- --__removing_an _ addi.tional--189:-cubic-- Yart#s::-af, spoil. - -Soil-samples - <br /> - -- <br /> were proposed to be taken as shown on Plates VIII & 19. In <br /> addition, 2 composite samples were to be taken from the excavated <br /> spoil to assist in future soil remediation. <br /> REVIEW OF' LATEST WORK PERFORMED; <br /> On August. 7, :1990; Jim Thorpe Oil, Inc. moved in equipment and <br /> began removing soil from the existing excay.:tion.
