' Site Background Information Local Food Store
Page 3 of 3
SITE ASSESSMENT AND REMEDIATION ACTNITIES
' A summary of site assessment activities to date include
• 13 April 2000, ten soil probe borings (B 1 through B 10) were advanced at the site TPH-g,
1
BTEX, MTBE and/or tertiary butanol (TBA) were detected in each of eight grab bround
water samples Low concentrations of TPH-g and BTEX were detected in soil samples
' collected from four of the ten soil borings Significant concentrations of MTBE were
detected in soil samples collected from a boring advanced near the former tank pit
' On 23 May 2000 three ground water monitoring wells (MW-1 through MW-3) were
installed
' On 02 October 2000, oneground water monitoring well (MW-4) was installed
• On 22 January 2002, an 8-hour step draw down ground water extraction test,and 04 and 05
February 2002, a 36-hour constant rate ground water extraction feasibility test were
' performed at the site to determine the feasibility of ground water extraction as a remediation
alternative for the site
10 • On 21 July 2003,one deep-screened(50 to 55 feet bsg)ground water monitoring well(MW-
5)was installed No analytes of concern were detected In submitted soil samples
' • Quarterly ground water sampling and reporting has been ongoing since June 2000
The soil boring data indicates that silt underlies the site to a depth of approximately 15 feet below
' surface grade (bsg) and in turn is underlain by a silty sand at depths between 15 and 20 feet bsg
Generally, bluish gray, fine-grained silt and lean clay were encountered In samples collected from
soil boring MW-5 at depths between 35 feet and 40 feet bsg Medium to dark gray poorly graded fine
' sand with silt and poorly graded line sand were encountered between 45 feet and 54 5 feet bsg Silty
clay was encountered at approximately 55 feet bsg Current ground water monitoring data at the site
indicates that ground water occurs at a depth of approximately 8 feet bsg Historically, ground water
' flow direction has been toward the northeast
' The approximate lateral extent of impacted soil and ground water has been defined by the installation
of soil borings and the current monitoring well network The vertical extent of dissolved
hydrocarbons in the former UST area may require additional assessment
t '
' Advanced GeoEnvLronmental,Inc
