A site map showing the soil boring
n
Iocations are presented in Figure 1. l
Assessment of the soils around the existing tank cluster, involved drilling four soil
Ei borings(B-1 through B-4) through the backfill to a depth of 20 feet. Assessment of
the soil: :: the proposed location of the new tank cluster, involved drilling two soil
borings(B-3 and B-4)to a depth of 15 feet. Soil samples from each soil borinj, were
collected every five feet in brass tubes with a California modified sampler...Qne tube
from each sample was sealed and placed in an ioe chest at 40C for storage. The soils
in the second brass tube were placed in jars and screened with an hNu meter for
total organic vapors.
a
Et Preliminary screening of the soil samples with the rNu meter did not detect the
?j presence of hydrocarbons(Table 1). Soil samples were not sent to the laboratory for k
TPH analysis, as field screening did not indicate a problem.
j
f
z
ii
Practical Solutions to Environmentai Concerns }
