11 August 2004
• AGE-NC-99-0570
- 3 2 ANALYTICAL RESULTS OF GROUND WATER SAMPLES
TPH-g was detected in samples MW-2 and MW-3 at concentrations of 740 micrograms per liter
(µg11) and 200 µg/l, respectively TPH-d was not detected in samples y
BTEX compounds were detected in well MW-2 at concentrations of 2 1 µg/1 benzene,21 µg/1 ethyl-
benzene and 3 0µg/l total xylenes No other well had detectable concentration ofBTEX compounds
MTBE was detected in samples MW-2 and MW-3 at 7 6 µg/l and 170 µg11, respectively
' No other target analytes were detected at or above laboratory reporting limits in any of the samples
Laboratory results of water samples analyzed for petroleum hydrocarbons are summarized in
Table 2 The laboratory reports for the quarterly monitoring event (CTEL Laboratory ID No
' 0407019) QA/QC reports and chain-of-custody form are included in Appendix C GeoTracker
confirmation pages of the submitted laboratory electronic deliverable format (EDF) files are-
included in Appendix D --
4.0. SUMMARY AND CONCLUSIONS
• Based on the results of the July 2004 monitoring event, AGE draws the following conclusions
 Y"lydG
' Ground water flow direction was towards the north to northwt from the former dispenser
area at a hydraulic gradient of 0 02 feet/feet This flow direction and gradient are similar to
' previous monitoring events
• MTBE was detected in two ground water samples, with the highest dissolved concentration
occurring east of the dispenser area(MW-3) MTBE concentrations in samples MW-2 and
' MW-3 were above the DHS' primary maximum containment level (MCL) of 13 µg/1 and
secondary MCL of 5 µg11, respectively, for drinking water
' The benzene concentration detected in sample MW-2 is near the DHS' MCL of 1 0µg/l for
drinking water
' TPH-g remained below reporting limits for the second consecutive sampling event in MW-1
and decreased to below reporting limits in MW-4,while MTBE concentrations in both wells
MW-1 and MW-4 decreased to below reporting limits this quarter
' In Third Quarter 2004, TPH-g, BTEX and MTBE decreased significantly in well MW-2,
whereas TPH-g decreased, but MTBE increased slightly in well MW-3
I
•
Advanced GeoEnvironmental,Inc
I
