1 j a <br />' 07 March 2003 <br /> • AGE-NC Project 99-0570 <br /> tPage 2 of 4 <br />' 2 2 COLLECTION AND ANALYSIS OF GROUND WATER SAMPLES <br />' A water sample was collected from each well using the dedicated, disposable plastic bailer <br /> Immediately upon retrieval, samples were transferred into three 40-m1 EPA-approved volatile <br /> organic analysis(VOA)vials containing 0 5 ml hydrochloric acid as a sample preservative and into <br />' a one-liter amber bottle with no sample preservative The samples were logged on a chain-of custody <br /> form, stored in a chilled container and transported under chain-of-custody to McCampbell <br /> Analytical, Inc (MAI), a California Department of Health(DHS)-certified laboratory, for analysis <br />' Ground water samples were analyzed for the following analytes <br />' Total petroleum hydrocarbons quantified as gasoline (TPH-g) and diesel (TPH-d) in <br /> accordance with EPA Method 8015-Modified <br /> • Benzene,toluene,ethylbenzene and total xylenes(BTE&X)and the oxygenated compounds <br /> da-isopropyl ether (RIPE), ethyl tertiary--butyl ether (ETBE), methyl tertiary butyl ether <br /> (MTBE),tertiary-amyl methyl ether(TAME),tertiary butanol(TBA),ethyl dibromide(EDB) <br />' and 1,2-dichloroethane (1,2-DCA) in accordance with EPA Method 8260B <br /> 30 FINDINGS <br /> Ground water elevation, flow direction and gradient were determined from field data collected <br />' on 28 January 2003 whale the hydrocarbon-impact to ground water was assessed by laboratory <br /> analysis of the ground water samples <br />' 3 1 GROUND WATER ELEVATION ANDG RADIENT <br />' The relative ground water elevation ranged from 8 66 to 1144 feet below sea level,with an average <br /> depth to water of 14 feet below well casing grade (Table 1) The top of the ground water table <br />' occurred within the screened intervals of the wells Ground water was inferred to be flowing to the <br /> north and northwest with a significant hydraulic gradient of 0 02 feet/feet toward well MW-5 The <br /> ground water elevation contours are depicted on Figure 3 <br /> I <br /> I <br />' Advanced GcoEnvironmental,Inc <br /> I <br />
