Attorney-Client Privileged
6. PROPOSED SOIL AND GROUND WATER SAMPLING/FIELD OPERATIONS
TRE proposes to advance two hollow stem auger administered-boring in the following
locations for this reconnaissance soil and ground water sampling project (See Figure 2)
as specified below.
The borings will be advanced at five-foot intervals collecting soil samples in metal liners
using pre-cleaned drilling rods. The drill rods will be clean prior to arriving on site,
between each borehole and before leaving the site.. The auger will be directly
advanced approximately 70'-75' (TRE's review of historical experience in site work in
neighboring properties indicate that ground water was not reached at average depth of
between 50-55 feet bg, therefore, it is anticipated that due to the confining conditions of
the aquifer, groundwater will not be reached until the depth of 70-75 feet bg) below
grade (bg) or until it reaches ground water.
The drilling operations/borings will be supervised and logged by a California
Professional Registered Geologist (PG) using the Unified Soil Classification System
(USCS). Any unusual odors, soil head space PID readings, and or visual signs of
contamination associated with each boring in its specific interval will be noted in the field
logs. Soil samples retained for chemical analysis will be retained in liners sealed with
Teflon paper/plastic end caps, and labeled with a unique field number. Appropriate
chain of custody form (CCF) shall be completed and each sample shall be entered into
the CCF. All samples shall be immediately placed is on crushed ice in a dedicated
cooler in order to maintain an approximate Temperature of 4C before it is transported to
the designated laboratory: Precision Environmental Technology (PET) of Stockton, CA.
Groundwater samples will be collected from the open borehole listed below. The
sampling procedure will involve the following steps:
• The boreholes will be advanced into the uppermost aquifer
• A temporary casing will be used to lower a clean disposable PVC sampling bailer
into the borehole for sampling groundwater.
