SOP #12 <br /> Date:9/1/93 <br /> Page 6 of 31 <br /> 4.0 <br /> RESPONSIBILITIES AND QUALIFICATIONS <br /> The Project Manager or Task Leader is responsible for assigning project staff to <br /> perform CPT- investigation and sampling activities. The Task Leader is also <br /> responsible for assuring that this and any other appropriate procedures are followed <br /> by all project personnel. <br /> The project staff assigned to the collection of data, soil samples, and ground water <br /> samples with CPT techniques are responsible for completing their tasks according to <br /> this and other appropriate procedures. All staff are responsible for reporting <br /> deviations from the procedure or nonconformance to the Task Leader, Project <br /> Manager, or Project QA/QC Officer. <br /> Only qualified personnel shall supervise subcontractors hired to perform this <br /> procedure. At a minimum, ERM-West, Inc., employees qualified to supervise CPT <br /> investigations and sampling will be required to have: <br /> • Read this SOP; <br /> • Indicated to the Task Leader that all procedures contained in this SOP are <br /> understood; <br /> • Completed the OSHA 40-hour training course, and/or annual 8-hour <br /> refresher course, as appropriate; and <br /> • Previously performed CPT investigations and sampling in a manner <br /> generally consistent with the procedures described in this SOP. <br /> ERM-West, Inc., employees who do not have previous experience supervising CPT <br /> techniques will be trained on site by a qualified ERM-West, Inc., employee. A <br /> qualified California-certified R.G. or P.E. will oversee progress of the project, results, <br /> and interpretations. The Project Manager shall document personnel qualifications <br /> related to this procedure in the project QA files. <br />
