• Section No 6 <br /> Revision No 0 <br /> Date September 5, 1991 <br /> Page 19 of 55 <br /> the monitoring well A 15 foot x 15 foot square of plastic will generally be <br /> adequate to cover the well area the sides of the spill control area will be <br /> raised, typically by placing 2 x 4 boards under the edges of the plastic <br /> sheeting. this will provide containment in the event of accidental leaks, <br /> spills, or splashing of groundwater <br /> Care during purging and sampling operations should minimize the <br /> likelihood of spilling or splashing purged fluids If spills occur on the <br /> plastic sheeting, they should be contained on the plastic and wiped with an <br /> absorbent material as soon as reasonably possible after spillage All used <br /> absorbent material and used plastic sheeting shall be treated as contaminated <br /> waste and disposed as described in the following section <br /> Disposable latex or plastic gloves will be used by all personnel <br /> involved in sampling of groundwater and handling of sampling equipment <br /> Waste containment bags will be maintained in the sampling area One bag <br /> will contain potentially hazardous materials, i e , any material that comes <br /> into contact with groundwater A second bag will contain non-hazardous <br /> waste materials, i e , paper towels used for washing hands, scrap paper, etc. <br /> This bag will be disposed as regular trash The bag holding potentially <br /> hazardous waste will be disposed as described in the following section <br /> The guidelines and procedures set forth in the Site Health and Safety <br /> Plan shall be followed at all times Emergency procedures for situations <br /> such as personal injury or spillage of contaminated materials are covered in <br /> detail in the Health and Safety Plan <br /> 6-19 <br />
