Section No 8 • <br /> Revision No 0 <br /> Date September 5, 1991 <br /> Page 1 of 5 <br /> 8 0 CALIBRATION PROCEDURES AND FREQUENCY - <br /> 8 1 Field Calibration Procedures <br /> The equipment used in collecting field data includes a variety of <br /> instruments Proper maintenance, calibration, and operation of each <br /> instrument is the responsibility of the field staff assignedtothe project <br /> All instruments and equipment used are to be maintained, calibrated, and <br /> operated according to the manufacturer's guidelines and recommendations <br /> At a minimum, all instruments should be inspected and calibrated upon <br /> receipt In the event that the instrument is not supplied with <br /> manufacturer's recommendations for calibration and calibration frequencies, <br /> the following guidelines apply <br /> ■ <br /> -All -equipment should be calibrated each day (at a minimum) prior to - <br /> ------ a=field=use - <br /> ■ Instruments for which calibration cannot be easily checked should be <br /> either tested against another calibrated instrument of a similar <br /> type, or returned to the manufacturer for appropriate calibration <br /> If tested against another instrument capable of making the same <br /> measurements, variation between instruments must not exceed 5 <br /> percent If readings vary more than 5 percent, the instrument <br /> should be returned to the manufacturer for calibration, <br /> ■ A permanent record of instrument calibration should be maintained <br /> and kept with each instrument <br /> Instrument specific calibration procedures are outlined in the following <br /> sections <br /> 8 1 1 pH Meter <br /> pH meter calibration procedures are in accordance with manufacturer's <br /> instructions i <br /> 8-1 <br />
