84 Hazardous Areas <br /> • <br /> On project sites where hazardous wastes are present or the work involves exposure, <br /> or potential exposure, to toxic or hazardous chemicals and/or materials, the Site-specific <br /> Health and Safety Plan shall establish regulated areas to control exposure of personnel to <br /> the hazard and to control the spread of hazardous or toxic materials from the affected area <br /> The characteristics of the hazards and the work to be performed will determine the specific <br /> requirements for regulated areas and the personal protective equipment and work rules that <br /> will apply within them <br /> The boundaries of all regulated areas (other than the perimeter of the Clean or Low- <br /> hazard Area - see Section 8 4 3) shall be clearly marked by yellow caution tape securely <br /> mounted at a height of three feet, or by such other means as will segregate one regulated <br /> area from another as prescribed by the Site-specific Health and Safety Plan <br /> 8 4 1 High-hazard Area <br /> This regulated area includes the area where toxic or hazardous chemicals and/or <br /> materials are present or is the area containing and immediately surrounding the source of <br /> the hazard This zone has the highest inhalation exposure or direct explosive blast hazard <br /> potential and presents a high probability of skin contact with hazardous materials The <br /> whole of this area shall be adequately lighted when work is being performed during the <br /> hours of darkness <br /> 842 Hazard Barrier Area <br /> This regulated area includes any areas immediately surrounding the High-hazard Areas <br /> where there is a secondary potential inhalation hazard, or there could be a blast injury in the <br /> • event of an explosion The probability of skin contact with toxic or hazardous materials in <br /> 8-2 REV 4192-EGI <br /> Illi <br /> r <br />
