10112 Power Air, and Explosive Actuated Tools <br /> � . p <br />�i ■ All power tools shall be maintained in good repair and operated in compliance <br /> with manufacturer's instructions by personnel trained or experienced in their use <br /> ■ No guard, safety device, or appliance may be removed from tools or equipment <br /> except for the purpose of making repairs Such removal will only be done by <br /> persons qualified to make the repair after the tools or equipment have been <br /> taken to a safe area and shut off from sources of power <br /> ■ Power actuated tools shall never be left unattended in a place where they would <br /> be available to persons not authorized to use them <br /> ■ Air hoses must not be disconnected until they are bled and pressure is securely <br /> turned off at its source All air hoses will meet the requirements of 29 CFR <br /> 1926302h (Federal OSHA Construction Safety Standards) <br /> ■ Explosive actuated fastening tools shall meet the design require-ments in <br /> "American National Standard Safety Requirements for Explosive Actuated <br /> Fastening Tools" (ASTI A103-1970) A tool which does not meet these design <br /> standards shall not be used <br /> E Guards required on power tools will be used at all times Constant-pressure <br />�;• switches or controls will be used on all powered hand tools Switch locking <br /> devices will be removed Power grinders will have protective shields <br /> Power or explosive actuated tools shall not be used in explosive or flammable <br /> atmospheres <br /> Air actuated nail drivers shall be operated in strict compliance with <br /> manufacturer's instructions When not in use they shall be disconnected from the <br /> air supply <br /> ■ The electrical safety requirements of Section 104 shall apply to the use of all <br /> electrically powered tools <br /> i <br /> 10113 Hand Tools <br /> ■ All hand tools whether employee-owned or company-furnished, will be <br /> maintained in safe condition Unsafe tools will not be used until repaired <br /> ■ All gasoline or diesel powered tools and equipment will be stopped during <br /> refueling <br /> a The electrical safety requirements of Section 10 4 shall apply to the use of all <br /> q PP Y <br /> electrically powered hand tools <br /> 10-18 REV 4192-EGI <br /> 111 r <br />
