KLEINFELDER
August 15, 1988
File: 24-2099-20
17
ENV►ROME.7 At. H'-IALTH
Filpmll/SE:vi;;tS
Resource Development
Attn: Mr. Tom McCollum
41 W. Yokuts Avenue, Suite 125
Stockton, CA 95207
SUBJECT: Addition Assessment
Weston Ranch
Stockton, California
Dear Mr. McCollum:
Enclosed is a revised proposed scope of work to conduct additional sampling and
assessment at the Weston Ranch Parcels in Stockton, California.
Kleinfelder performed a preacquisition site assessment and soil sampling investigation for
the 15 parcels which encompass approximately 1,454 acres. Results of these investigations
are presented in Kleinfelder's Preacquisition Site Assessment Report dated June 28, 1988,
Preacquisition Appendix Report dated June 29, 1988, and Additional Analytical Results
letter dated July 20, 1988. Additional investigation of the hydrocarbon stained areas and
pesticide container disposal area PS-3 were recommended based on the field and analytical
results.
The proposed scope of work includes the drilling of soil borings. The San Joaquin Local
Health District (SJL-ID) will need to issue a boring permit prior to drilling. Kleinfelder
recommends a copy of this proposal be submitted to the SJLHD so a boring permit can be
obtained.
Unless ground water is not encountered within 10 feet of the surface, Kleinfelder is
proposing to install three monitoring wells. These wells will be necessary to assess the
possible nature and significance of the petroleum hydrocarbon detected in the earlier
phase of work. Implementation of the proposed scope will provide additional assessment
of soil and water contamination to be used for evaluating remedial actions to allow
development to proceed.
Please review the proposed scope of work and project cost estimate. With your
authorization, Kleinfelder will submit the enclosed scope of work and obtain boring
permits from the SJLHD. You will be notified if the SJLHD requires a work plan or
additional information. We can initiate field activities within a week of receiving
authorization to proceed and an approved boring permit from San Joaquin County.
! -,vGFI nrQ Q-Q:; R-inp\C P.rL nrivN Guita F ;.tr-arnanro CA 9;R77 iglhi 16fi -1ni
