Safety Officers. <br /> 4.0 HAZARD EVALUATION <br /> This Health and Safety Plan addresses specific on-site work activities relevant <br /> to collecting samples and data. Based on the limited historical and technical <br /> data available, this plan covers anticipated activities and hazards, and makes <br /> provision for modification or amendment as health-related data are developed <br /> through these work plan investigations. <br /> This plan will be amended with site-specific hazard assessments for sites <br /> identified as posing potentially unusual health hazards for workers. The Safety <br /> Officer will amend the Health and Safety Plan as needed. As air, water, soil <br /> and chemical substance monitoring and analysis data become available for site <br /> work, the information will be evaluated by the Health and Safety Officer. <br /> The anticipated Activities of this program include: <br /> * _ Direct-reading hydrocarbon monitoring ambient <br /> concentrations during boring & excavation activities, <br /> * Collection of soil and water samples, <br /> * Sample preparation and shipment for analysis, <br /> The general types of hazards associated with this project <br /> are: <br /> * Mechanical Hazards. Cuts, contusions, being struck by swinging objects, <br /> or being caught by rotating objects; also muscular injury potential caused by <br /> overexertion, <br /> * Electrical Hazards. Possible drilling into or excavation of buried cables <br /> and exposure to overhead power lines. <br /> * Chemical Hazards. Exposure to chemicals listed in Section 4.1 of this <br /> plan and exposure to extraction solvents and contaminants during sample <br /> preparation, <br />
