The post
closure groundwater monitoring program was specified in the DHS Certification Approval for
Remedial/Removal Action dated June 29, 1990. WCC has collected the seventh quarter
groundwater samples in accordance with the post closure groundwater monitoring program. This
letter presents the sampling activities and the analytical results of the samples collected during
the seventh quarter of the groundwater monitoring program.
The groundwater samples for the seventh quarter were collected on April 29, 1992 from the
seven monitoring wells (MW-1, MW-2, MW-4, MW-6, MW-14, MW-15, and MW-30) on this
site. The sampled wells were first sounded to measure the depth from the top of the well casing
to the groundwater surface. Each well was purged with a Teflon bailer until a minimum of three
well casing volumes of groundwater was extracted. During the purging of the wells,
groundwater samples were measured in the field for pH, temperature and specific conductance
at approximately every well casing volume. After the wells were purged, the wells were allowed
to recover for approximately two hours before groundwater was sampled from the wells.
The groundwater samples collected for dissolved metals (copper and lead) were field filtered
through a pump with an in-line 0.45 µm filter. An equipment/travel blank designated as MW-31
and a blind duplicate sample designated as MW-32 (duplicate sample for MW-6) were also
submitted to a DHS-certified laboratory for analysis.
