We understand that the lender for the Weber Ranch Ofice Park
is concerned with possible sur cial pesticide residues and potential petroleum hydrocarbon
contamination from a BP gas station located at 1206 East March Lane on the southwest
corner of March and West Lanes. Currently, there is no reason to suspect that the
underground tanks at the station either have leaked or are leaking, but soil and groundwater
sampling are a requirement for funding the project. A level I Environmental Assessment
will be conducted concurrently with the Level II investigation.
The target substances of the Level II investigation will be petroleum hydrocarbons in the
subsurface soil and groundwater and pesticides in the surficial soils.
The site has recently been graded and no underground utilities have yet been installed
Borehole locations have been placed a minimum of twenty five (25)feet from curb lines to
prevent interference with public utilities. There are no septic tanks, leachfields, buildings,
or underground utilities (including water, sanitary sewer,or storm sewer) on the site.
BOREHOLE DRILLING AND SOIL SAMPLING
Two test borings will be performed with a permit from San Joaquin County Public Health
Services (refer to Figure 3). Drive samples will be screened with a portable volatile organic
analyzer(VOA). Positive results will be submitted to Clayton Environmental Services in
Pleasanton, CA for TPHg and BTEX analyses. The test borings will be backfilled to the
surface with neat Portland cement.
Between drilling locations the drilling auger and samplers will be steam cleaned to reduce
the possibility of cross contamination between boreholes. Cuttings generated during
drilling will be disposed on-site if VOA readings are negative. Otherwise, cuttings will be
stockpiled on plastic adjacent to the borehole and covered with plastic sheeting until receipt
of the analytical results. Based on the analytical results,pH7 Environmental will provide
recommendations to Moss & Craig on disposal options for the soil cuttings. Disposal of all
cuttings will be the responsibility of Moss &Craig.
18211 Bollinger Canyon Road San Ramon CA 94583 415-831-1957 Telecopy 415-838-2151
