,0/1/0-1
Work Plan
Limited Phase II Soil Sampling
Marlette Road
Stockton, California
Tetra Tech EM, Inc. (Tetra Tech) is in the process of performing a Phase 1 Environmental Site
Assessment (ESA) of the Marlette Road property, located east of Marlette Road in Stockton, San
Joaquin County, California. The property currently consists of a rural residence, associated
outbuildings,a barn,and agricultural land.
The Phase I assessment revealed evidence of staining on surface soils under the dispenser end of
two leaking, portable aboveground storage tanks (AST). Two additional stationary ASTs are also
of concern due to their length of time on-site. As a precautionary measure, Tetra Tech will collect
soil samples from the each of the identified areas and analyze the soil for total petroleum
hydrocarbons. Photo Ionization Detector(PID)readings will also be recorded at specified intervals.
At the dispenser location of each of the two leaking ASTs, and the two stationary ASTs, one soil
boring will be advanced by direct push GeoProbe to approximately 15 feet bgs. Samples will be
collected and PID readings will be recorded at two-foot intervals. Step out soil borings will be
advanced 10 feet north, south, east, and west of the first soil boring. Selected samples will be
collected based on PID results until PID readings suggest the soil is not affected. The samples
will be analyzed for Total Petroleum Hydrocarbons (TPH) - Carbon Chain (C6 — C40) by EPA
Method 8015 and benzene, toluene, ethylbenzene, and xylenes (BTEX) and oxygenates by EPA
Method 8260.
The soil from each boring will be spread out on-site in the areas from where they originated to a
thickness of less than one inch. Each soil boring will be backfilled with grout or Quickerete.
The results of the investigation will be documented in a Phase II ESA report.
