4.2.4 Human Receptors
Based on the evaluation of potentially complete pathways, the human receptors
associated with the exposure points selected include:
• Occupational (Current and Future Lan&Use)
• Residential Adult (Future Land Use)
® Residential Child (Future Land Use)
The occupational receptor is based on the current and planned land use and the current
potential exposure from existing conditions at the site. Currently, occupational receptors
are the only exposed populations at the site. Future land use may result in exposure of
-occupational receptors, and of adult and child residents on'the site. Currently, there are
no plans of developing the site for residential use. However, in order to 'be very
protective of 'human health and groundwater, residential receptors were evaluated
without the site paving. Including hypothetical residential receptors allows for the
evaluation of possible changes of future land uses"since residential receptors have the
highest exposure from a site. If there are no risks with residential receptors, there are a
generally no risks to occupational employees and other uses where humans may come
in contact with the site.
4.3 COMPLETE EXPOSURE PATHWAYS
The final component of a complete exposure pathway is an intake route into the body. 4'
Table 4-1 summarizes the pathways and exposure scenarios; that are evaluated in this
risk assessment. The rational for-the chosen scenarios is provided in Sections 4.2, 4.2.1 _
and 4.2.2. As shown in the Conceptual Site Model (Figure 4-1), the complete exposure
pathways evaluated quantitatively for this risk assessment are ingestion of contaminated
groundwater, inhalation of volatiles while showering, dermal contact with contaminated
groundwater, and inhalation of volatiles from the soil subsurface. These exposures are .,
evaluated for the receptors listed above.
SALDOYELLO.Rn May 4, 1995 ' 4-5
IJ
