(YFS), to conduct underground storage tank closure activities
including environmental sampling and analysis of soil at the inactive YFS facility in
Stockton, California (Figure 1). This Work Plan has been submitted to San Joaquin County
Environmental Health Division for approval. The purpose of this Work Plan is to describe
the planned activities following the removal of two underground storage tanks (USTs)located
at the former YFS facility. This Work Plan is divided into the following sections:
Background (Site Location, Site Description, and Site History); Tank Removal Activities;
Soil Sampling and Analysis; Proposed Scope of Work; and Schedule.
BACKGROUND
The site is located at 4520 South Highway 99 Frontage Road approximately 750-feet south
of Marfargoa Drive, and approximately 650-feet north of Imperial Way, in Stockton,
California. The site is an inactive distribution terminal consisting of 50 docking-bays, truck
and employee parking areas, and a truck fueling and weighing station (Figure 2). A
domestic water supply well is located approximately 75-feet southeast of the excavation
(Figure 2). The well is intact with a submersible pump and associated piping and power
fixtures. A small 15-foot by 12-foot corrugated metal shed is located between the well and
the excavation. The shed contains the wells' two 300-gallon surface storage tanks and
associated valves and piping. Woodward-Clyde is currently reviewing the site history in
more detail and will provide additional information in our forthcoming tank closure report.
4E04055W\YFS.WP(10-10-94)SAC
`: 10370 Old Placerville Rd.,Suite 104 • Sacramento,CA 95827-2505 • (916)368-0988 • Fax:(916)368-0967
