0
Test hole TS-8 initially was found to be free of a floating
' hydrocarbon layer . On March 11, 1988, three days following its
' installation, 0. 5 inch of product was measured in the test
hole. This suggests that the hydrocarbon layer migrated into the
' test hole from sources to the north (Time Oil property) or west
(Southern Pacific pipeline right-of-way) . On March 15, 1988, six
' days following its installation, about 4. 5 inches of product were
measured in the test hole. The product level remained the same
through March 23, 1988. Based on the measurements taken to date,
it is evident that the hydrocarbon product is migrating into test
well TS-8 from offsite sources to the north and west .
' Test holes TS-9 and TS-10, located near the Time Oil prop-
erty boundary on the west and east sides of the building leased
by California Fuels, were found to be contaminated with floating
hydrocarbons following their installation. On March 9, 1988,
test holes TS-9 and TS-10 showed four and seven inches of
' hydrocarbons, respectively. On March 10, 1988, 4 . 5 inches of
hydrocarbon were measured in TS-9, and the level has remained
constant . The product thickness in TS-10 remained constant until
March 17 , 1988, when 9 inches were measured. Although additional
measurements are necessary to confirm the observed increase in
product thickness in test hole TS-10, it suggests that the
hydrocarbon product is migrating onto the Tesoro property from
the Time Oil property.
' No floating hydrocarbon product has been measured in the
test holes TS-1, TS-2, TS-3, TS-4, TS-5, TS-6, and TS-11 or in
monitoring wells M-1 and M-2. The test holes are located at key
- 13 -
