No contamination was found in TS-5, which borders the
' Southern Pacific property boundary. The test holes within the
Tesoro tank farm (TS-2 , TS-6 , and TS-11 ) show contamination by
benzene, toluene, xylene, and ethyl benzene; however , the
concentrations are not indicative of a new source of leakage.
1 Test hole TS-4, located in the southwest portion of the tank
farm, shows very low-level contamination by ethyl benzene. If
there was a source of leakage in the tank farm, test hole TS-4
' likely would show significant contamination because the ground-
water flow is toward that test hole.
1 No significant contamination was found in test holes TS-1
' and TS-3 . These holes are located west and south of the center
of the tank farm diking. The analysis on the water sample
' collected from TS-7 indicates that the contamination is old
material .
rMonitoring wells M-1 and M-2 showed low-level contamination
' by benzene, toluene, xylene, and ethyl benzene. These wells are
located at strategic points on the Tesoro site to detect contam-
ination that could impact offsite areas to the north and west
that show significant contamination. If the hydrocarbon leakage
' was emanating from the Tesoro property, the monitoring wells
would show high levels of contamination.
- 19 -
