, r <br /> Once tank 609 fills to the elevation of the point of discharge into the <br /> separator, the volume of tank 609 will remain constant. Water will flow from <br /> the bottom of tank 609 into the separator and product will remain at the top <br /> of tank 609. The system is, in effect, a two-stage oil/water separator. The <br /> attached drawing (number 2476) illustrates the system as described. <br /> Controls have been built into the system that will cause pumping to cease <br /> under two conditions. To prevent free product from being discharged to the <br /> sewer, the oil/water separator has a hydrocarbon sensor placed approximately <br /> one foot below the water level . When a foot of product accumulates in the <br /> separator, power to the air compressor operating the pumps is cut off and an <br /> alarm light comes on in the office. The product must be drained off into the <br /> adjacent waste oil tank before pumping can resume. At the present time, the <br /> valve between tank 609 and the separator is closed. To prevent tank 609 from <br /> overflowing, a high level alarm has been installed that causes a solenoid <br /> valve to shut off the air supply to the pumps. This condition is also <br /> signaled by an alarm light in the office. <br /> We are still attempting to identify the source of the gasoline "spill " (for <br /> want of a better word) and are experimenting with ways to improve the rate of <br /> product recovery from our wells. It is not possible to predict how our <br /> recovery system might change in the future, since our investigation has not <br /> been concluded. You may rest assured that Time Oil remains as committed as <br /> ever to resolving this problem. <br /> Should you or your staff have any questions about the configuration or <br /> operation of this system, please do not hesitate to call .
