The Installation Report describes
the installation of monitoring well MW-36 to delineate the lateral extent of petroleum
hydrocarbon pollution. The Annual Report discusses the groundwater monitoring activities
conducted in November, trends in groundwater flow and concentrations for 2004,the status of
the GWETS and planned activities for 2005. The Letter provides a summary of the fuel
oxygenate sampling and requests concurrence the proposed fuel oxygenate sampling based on the
requirements of Monitoring and Reporting Program(MRP)No. 5-01-815.
We have the following comments on the Installation Report, Annual Report, and Letter:
1. The practical quantitation limits(PQL) for the samples collected from newly installed
monitoring well MW-36 were above the maximum limits required in the MRP. Future
samples need to be reported at or below the maximum PQL.
2. Shell needs to review the tables in the Annual Report to ensure completeness and
accuracy. The table provided in Appendix A of the Annual Report does not include
California Environmental Protection Agency
01 Recycled Paper
