3.6 GWE SYSTEM PERFORMANCE
Based on the groundwater analytical data collected from well MW-1, the GWE system
removed approximately 1.1 pounds TPHg, 0.1 pounds benzene, and 1.5 pounds MTBE
during the second half of 2011.
As of December 28, 2011, approximately 11,575,013 gallons of groundwater have been
extracted (Table 4). During the second half of 2011, approximately 12,611 gallons of
groundwater were treated. The GWE system flow rates averaged 0.04 gallons per
minute.
3.6.1 OPERATIONAL ISSUES
None.
3.6.2 SYSTEM EFFECTIVENESS
As discussed in previous reports, the relatively stable MTBE concentrations since
August 2006 suggest that pumping from well MW-1 is ineffective. In our
November 30, 2011 letter, CRA recommended shutting down this system.
4.0 PROPOSED ACTIVITIES
4.1 GROUNDWATER MONITORING
Blaine will gauge and sample the wells quarterly, and CRA will issue semiannual
groundwater monitoring and remediation reports, according to the MRP for this site.
4.2 REMEDIATION
As requested in the Central Valley Water Board's January 13, 2012 letter, CRA will
submit a corrective action plan by February 15, 2012.
As discussed above, CRA recommends shutting down the temporary GWE system and
will do so upon receiving approval from the Central Valley Water Board.
241729(32) 7 CONESTOGA-ROVERS&ASSOCIATES
