The site assessment will consist of the drilling of
three exploratory borings to collect soil and groundwater samples, and the sampling of
the on-site domestic well. The purpose of this assessment is to evaluate possible
hydrocarbon impact to soil and groundwater at the site.
This work plan includes a brief discussion of site background and previous
investigations, proposed scope of work, and schedule. Field and laboratory procedures
are presented as Attachment A.
SITE BACKGROUND AND PREVIOUS INVESTIGATIONS
The site is an active service station located at 25650 Highway 99 North in Acampo,
California.
On August 25, 1993, one waste oil underground storage tank (UST) and one heating oil
UST were removed. One soil sample was taken from beneath each of the USTs. The
Heating oil UST soil sample, D-1-9', reported non-detectable levels for all analyzed
constituents. The waste oil UST soil sample, WO-1-9', reported non-detectable levels
of all analyzed constituents except for chromium at 29 parts per million (ppm), lead at 7
ppm, zinc at 44 ppm, and nickel at 21 ppm.
On December 15, 1993, one 10,000 gallon, two 6,000 gallon, and one 3,000 gallon
single walled steel USTs were removed. The USTs appeared to be in good condition,
