Stockpile Sampling
• Approximately 1200 cubic yards soil was generated from the UST and product
piping removal and excavation. Soil generated from UST and product piping
removal (approximately 200 cubic yards) was sampled at a frequency of one
discrete for approximately every 25 cubic yards and is represented by samples
SP-1A, SP-113, SP-1C, SP-1D, SP-2A, SP-213, SP-2C and SP-2D (Figure 2).
Soil generated from additional excavation(approximately 1000 cubic yards) was
sampled at a frequency of one four- sample composite for approximately every
150 cubic yards for soil disposal and one discrete sample for approximately
every 25 cubic yards for soil used as backfill material on site. Samples SP-3A-
D, SP-4A-D, SP-5A-D, SP-6A-D, SP-9A-D and SP-10A-D represent composite
samples and SP-7A, SP-7B, SP-7C, SP-7D, SP-8A, SP-813, SP-8C and SP-81)
represent discrete samples.
Soil represented by SP-113, SP-1C, SP-2A, SP-2C, SP-8A, SP-813, SP-8C, SP-81) was
used as backfill material on site. Soil represented by SP-1A, SP-1D, SP-2 B, SP-
2D, SP-7A, SP-7B, SP-7C, SP-7D, SP-3A-D, SP-4A-D, SP-SA-D, SP-6A-D, SP-9A-D
and SP-10A-D were transported by STAMCO Trucking of San Martin, California
and disposed of at Forward Landfill, Inc., Stockton, California.
. ANALYTICAL RESULTS
Summaries of the soil analytical results are presented in Table 1 and Certified
Analytical Reports are presented in Appendix A. The UST excavation, trench and
stockpile samples were analyzed for Petroleum Hydrocarbons calculated as
Gasoline (TPH-Gasohne) according to EPA Method 8015 (Modified) and Benzene,
Toluene, Ethyl benzene, and Xylene (BTEX) according to EPA Method 8020.
Selected samples were analyzed for Volatile Organics according to EPA SW-846
Method 8240, Total Lead according to EPA Method SW-846 6010, Total
Metals(Arsemc, Barium, Cadmium, Chromium, Cobalt, Copper, Lead, Mercury,
Nickel, Zinc) according to EPA Method 846 6010 & 7000 Series, and Halogenated
Volatile Organics by EPA SW-846 Methods 5030/8010. Additional analysis was
performed on samples collected in the area of the former waste oil tank remote
fill include Total Petroleum Hydrocarbons calculated as Diesel according to EPA
Method 8015 (Modified) , Semi-Volatile Organic Priority Pollutants according to
EPA Method 8270, Total Oil and Grease according to EPA Method 5520 E, F,
Metals (Cadmium,Chromium,Lead,Zinc&Nickel) according to EPA Method 6010.
Due to an oversight by Superior Precision Analytical, Inc., sample WO-1-2.5" was
not analyzed by method 8010. A letter of explanation from Superior Precision
Analytical, Inc. is provided in Appendix A.
